Veneer wood is used in furniture manufacturing and interior fitting to achieve high-quality wood appearances economically. Thin layers are produced by slicing, peeling, or sawing and then applied to particleboard, MDF, or plywood. Precious species such as walnut, cherry, or oak are thus utilized sustainably. Veneer thickness influences workability and sanding potential. Cold or hot presses are used for bonding. Quality criteria include grain pattern, color uniformity, and defect-free surfaces. By skillfully arranging multiple veneer leaves – for example in book-match or slip-match patterns – decorative effects can be achieved.
